ISHII Yukiko(1st Term)

Inspection of elementary school construction project (Bong provinces, Liberia 2007)
- Profile
It has been almost eight years since I stepped in the field of international peace cooperation. My working experience focuses humanitarian assistance and peace-building, mainly in the Balkans, the Middle East and Africa. I worked for a variety of organizations including the United Nations, PKO missions, an international NGO, a governmental organization, and an academic institution. - Activity as Program Advisor
My major achievement was a baseline survey on gender mainstreaming in PKO missions. For next field assignment, I also tried to brush up some practical skills by taking training courses for emergency needs assessment and project cycle management. - Career pass after Tokyo
First, I was appointed Political Affairs Officer of UNMIK, Kosovo. My task covered information analysis and assistance for political process of the Status Talk. Then I moved to Liberia, taking up a post as Deputy Country Director for Christian Children's Fund - international NGO. Among other management responsibilities, the biggest challenge was the formulation of strategic directions.
Now I work as Assistant Director at Hiroshima Peacebuilders Center. This Center is implementing a pilot project, which supports young professionals in the field of peacebuilding through course work, on-the-job-training, and career development assistance. I am delighted to see their progress.
